The envisaged training will be addressed to scientists, researchers and Ph.D. students dealing with aspects related to oceanography (physics, chemistry and biology), marine biology, geology, geophysics, geochemistry, environmental engineering, ecological modeling, climate study, costal zone management, however they should be able to demonstrate their ability particularly to assimilate new concepts related to Blue Growth particularly aspects related to environmental protection and societal challenges.
The idea of having a multidisciplinary group of participants is meant to approach such complex issue of sustainable blu growth, where topics on fisheries and aquaculture, marine biology and biotechnology, coastal and maritime tourism, sea-bed mining and geology, ocean energy and renewables, maritime spatial planning, marine and maritime surveillance, oil spills and marine pollution, micro plastics, etc, will be tackled.
56 trainees (2 candidates per recipient country) will be identified and selected by the selection committee according to well-defined selection criteria. 15 trainers (international highly qualified professors) will be invited to lecturing and tutoring during the School.
Target countries are Mediterranean and Black Sea countries (Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Macedonia, Malta, Mauritania, Morocco, Montenegro, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine).
